Stewart judging at the Royal Easter Show.

This year’s  Sydneys Royal Easter Show saw the first ever ‘live’ judging of Oysters and Prawns  in front of the general public in the ‘de costi’ seafood stand in the Woolworth Fresh food dome for the Royal Agricultural Society.

In what was a stand out display of exhibits, we judged some 84 samples of the best the  Australian  aquaculture industry has to offer.

This year saw extraordinary high standard of product across these categories.

Hosted by Lyndey Milan OAM and under  the watchful eye of  Chief Panel Judge John Sussman.

In the exhibitors were rewarded with 6 gold medals, 17 silver medals, 23 bronze medals.

It was a particularly positive result considering the hardships in all agriculture with floods drought and extremely trying weather  conditions. Again a huge honour for me to contribute as an aquaculture judge for my 8th year, it’s a special event and as a chef there is a huge amount of respect for our producers and this is a constructive way to give everyone back to an associated industry of which we so greatly depend on.
